About TalkToAVet
TalkToAVet is a place to describe what is going on with your animal and get a written answer from a licensed veterinary professional. This page says who is behind it, who answers, and how what we publish is checked.
Who runs it
TalkToAVet was founded by Dr JD, a veterinarian licensed in FL (licence no. DEV-00000). Dr JD sets the standards our veterinary professionals answer to, and is the founder and owner of TalkToAVet.
TalkToAVet provides a technology platform to connect owners with independent licensed veterinary professionals. It does not itself give veterinary advice, and no veterinarian-client-patient relationship is formed between you and us by your use of the service. Nobody here examines your animal, so nothing you read here is a diagnosis or a prescription, and nothing replaces having your animal looked at in person.
Who answers
Licensed veterinary professionals working as independent contractors. Nobody signs themselves up: an administrator checks each licence against the state board’s own lookup before the person can take a case, and every reply carries their name, credential, licence state and licence number, how to ask for your records and where to complain. Meet the professionals, and see where we can answer, state by state.
What we publish, and how it is checked
Conversations are private and are never published. What we publish instead is written by us: condition pages chosen by what people actually ask about, and articles. Each health page names the licensed professional who reviewed it, with their licence state and number, and it stays on the site only while that licence is verified and current. Every page cites its sources, none carries a dose or a drug name, and each ends by saying what it is not: it is general information, written for owners in general, and not about your animal.
If you find a mistake, tell us. A correction goes back through the named reviewer before the page changes.
How to reach us
A real person reads every email. Records requests, complaints, refunds and corrections are all on the contact page, with the address for each. The Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy say the rest.
