Where we can answer

The state your animal is in decides what we are allowed to do. You choose it before you start, and this page tells you what happens next for each one. It is built from the same rules the service enforces and from our roster as it stands right now, so what it says today is true today.

Open: any professional on our roster may answer

In these states, general information that is not specific to a particular animal is not the practice of veterinary medicine, so any licensed professional on our roster may read your case and reply. Every one of them holds a license we have verified with the issuing board.

One professional with a verified license is on our roster today. That is who is permitted to answer you; it does not mean someone is reading the queue this minute.

Only by a professional licensed there

Colorado, Idaho and Virginia each define giving advice about an animal as practising veterinary medicine. We never diagnose or prescribe, but in these states that distinction does not help, so your case is offered only to a professional who holds that state’s license. Whether one is on our roster changes, and this is where it stands right now:

  • Colorado

    Not available today

Nobody on our roster holds a current Colorado license today, so we cannot take your question yet. We would rather tell you here than take a payment we cannot honour. Please check back, or write to us and we will let you know when that changes.

  • Idaho

    Not available today

Nobody on our roster holds a current Idaho license today, so we cannot take your question yet. We would rather tell you here than take a payment we cannot honour. Please check back, or write to us and we will let you know when that changes.

  • Virginia

    Not available today

Nobody on our roster holds a current Virginia license today, so we cannot take your question yet. We would rather tell you here than take a payment we cannot honour. Please check back, or write to us and we will let you know when that changes.

Not available

We cannot take questions from Texas, North Carolina, Alabama or Minnesota, each for a different reason in that state’s own law. If you start a conversation from one of them we close it without charge, and there is no way to buy past this.

  • Texas

We cannot take questions from Texas yet. Texas began requiring remote veterinary services to run from a state-registered facility on 1 September 2026, and the rules for registering one are not written until 2027. We would rather wait than put a vet's licence at risk.

  • North Carolina

We cannot take questions from North Carolina. State rules do not allow a vet to take on a patient there over the internet at all, whoever the vet is.

  • Alabama

We cannot take questions from Alabama. State law counts any electronic veterinary service to an Alabama pet owner as practising there, and it also requires an in-person relationship first.

  • Minnesota

We cannot take questions from Minnesota just yet. Minnesota requires a specific kind of company to be paid for veterinary services, and ours is being set up now. Please check back.

Wherever you are, the same limits apply

What you get is information and guidance from a licensed professional, in writing. They do not examine your animal, they cannot diagnose it and they cannot prescribe. No veterinarian-client-patient relationship is created. If your animal needs to be seen in person, we will tell you to go.
